Marie Gonzales

I was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan. I have always enjoyed drawing and being creative but my initial encounter with pastels, right after I moved to Honolulu, Hawai’i, made all the difference.  I took classes from an award winning artist, Mr. Wayne Takazono (waynetakazono.com) before moving to Folsom.  I have been very fortunate to be able to continue my classes under Mr. Barry Jamison (pastelpainter.com) who is also an award winning Pastellist and under Margot Schulzke who is a PSWC Pastel Laureate, Signature member Pastel Society of America, Degas Pastel Society, Distinguished Pastelist (PSWC) and author.  I have taken some life changing workshops from Gerald Boyd (gbyod.faso.com), Dug Waggoner (dugwaggoner.com) and the magnificent portrait artist, Cuong Nguyen (icuong.com).  I was the Secretary of the Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC)(2014-2017) and was the El Dorado Hills Art Association (EDHAA) Scholarship Chairperson (2013-2014).  Presently a Signature member of the  Pastel Society of the West Coast.  I am a member of the  Folsom Arts Association, El Dorado Hills Arts Association, Placerville Arts Association and the Archival Gallery, Sacramento.
